No Shortage of Troubles

Most musicians, composers, songwriters, and writers that I know have found themselves stuck from time to time, maybe more than less, unable to write. I know I’ve been there! Well, let us face it; we aren’t usually so much unable to write as we are simply without an ideas, without a source to feed that “S” factor.

A challenge I have made to myself, and might make to you as well is this: Consider the community you live in. Consider your friends. Consider your enemies. I devote an entire chapter to this in Tuned In, but consider this: genuine love includes loving both friends and enemies, and real love goes way beyond simply thinking about or emotionally loving someone; but is an active love meeting the needs of others.

So, are you stuck, short on ideas? Even if you aren’t, the truth is there is no shortage of troubles in this world. Tune in to your friends and neighbors, your community, surrounding area, the country, and the world, even your enemies. Where are there needs that you can meet? Who is in need and voiceless out there that you can speak up for? You’re a musician right? Use that voice of yours to speak up for the needs of others.

I hear from people all the time that say they pray more when troubling events come in to their life. Why must they be in our life? Surely we are all guilty of this, but there is no shortage of troubles. In fact, man is born to them.

Let’s tune in to the troubles of mankind as musicians, there’s no shortage of them.
